To plant or not to plant. That’s a big question. I hope you didn’t lose any newly planted transplants or seedlings during this last cold spell. Many gardeners will not plant until after Easter. Many will take a chance of having to re-plant.
Keep a row cover near plants that could be damaged due to a late freeze. Boxes and cans may be used also.
Plan your landscape colors carefully. Use groups of colors in several areas of your yard. This will keep the landscape united. There are many annuals and perennials that are available for early spring. Many will last until the weather becomes too hot for the early flowers. Many fall and spring plants usually are replaced in June. It depends on the weather. Perennials are a good investment. Many will last several years.
Move houseplants into a brighter area like a shade tree or porch before moving them outside for the summer.
We had the first hummingbird for the season, Saturday, March 30. It’s time to clean the feeders.
The first Spring Fling on March 30 was very successful. The Easter Bunny, children and many eggs gathered at 11 a.m. and the party began. KBB furnished food. Ricky Triesch and Lawrence Coffee furnished music. Many citizens helped to make it successful.
