Hill Country Sound Situation Welcomes Two New Instructors (Community News)

The Hill Country Sound Situation is excited to announce two new additions to it’s teaching roster; Violinist/Cellist Caitlin Simpson and Flutist Rachel Clakley.

Caitlin Simpson is a Music Educator in San Antonio, Texas. She has taught private and group instruction on the cello and violin for five years. She has studied with John Stuart, and Benjamin Westney while attending San Antonio College. Currently, Caitlin is working on her Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. There, she studies with Dan Zollars, Principal Cellist of the Mid-Texas Symphony. She is a current member of the American String Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and a Suzuki Certified Instructor. Caitlin aspires to work as a Music Therapist specializing in the field of Autism and other neurological disorders. She has worked at the Unicorn Center in San Antonio, and has witnessed the healing power of music.

Rachel Clakley has always loved music and knew in Junior High that she wanted to be a Band Director. She attended Lola High School where she became Captain of the band and received a Division I Superior rating at State in Solo & Ensemble. Rachel’s Academic UIL events at the state level enabled her to receive a scholarship to Blinn College under the instruction of the flutist Marie McElroy. There, she participated in the band and choir and obtained her Associate’s Degree in Music. Afterwards, she attended Sam Houston State University and studied with Kathy Daniel. Rachel began giving flute lessons her senior year of college at Huntsville High School. After graduating from Sam Houston State University this past May Rachel received a job here in Blanco, TX as the Assistant Band Director. “I have a true passion for teaching and would love to teach your child how to play the flute! In my career I teach children of all ages, so whether your child is a beginner or more advanced I would be happy to better their musical skills!”
