Cub Scout Pack 497 went on a camping trip to Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park on Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9.
During the weekend the boys earned their skateboarding, kickball, bicycling, and map and compass belt loops, and their whittling chip (pocket knife safety) by practicing in group settings. The Webelos also learned to safely build and light a campfire. An informative, ranger led, hike earned the boys their geology and hiking belt loops. Every boy also helped to prepare a meal, though they all knew how to make their own s’more!
On Saturday the boys attended “Shake, Rattle, and Coil” a presentation on local lizards, snakes, frogs, and turtles by Robert Lindsey. He even carried these animals around for a close up look!
The successful camping trip was organized by leader Amanda Raczkowski.
