The 8th grade Panthers showed their Defensive strength Thursday, October 2, with a 16-0 shutout of the Comfort Bobcats.
The Panther defense held Comfort to just 41 yards of total offense. The defense attacked all night with CJ Diamond, Kyle Martinez, Chance Horton, and Jesus Arteaga applying upfront pressure, with Horton getting to the QB causing a fumble , dropping the running backs for loss and ending the night with 9 tackles. Linebackers Cade Felps, Justin Wardlow, and AJ Briscoe provided great tackling as well. Lane Lowak had 4 tackles with a great solo tackle on a kickoff along with Tristan Fortner shutting down the corners with 8 tackles. QB, Eddie Calzoncit was 5 of 9 passing for 114 yards, 6 yards rushing and 8 tackles. Justin Wardlow rushed for 116 yards including a 56 yard run, 45 yards receiving and a half dozen tackles. Cade Felps was consistent all night with 40+ yards rushing, 2 rushing extra points, and 7 tackles. Zack Collins finished the night with 9 yards receiving and 6 tackles. As a new player on the 8th grade Panthers, Tyler LaRue showcased his talents with 5 tackles and a circus act catch of 27 yards for a TD.
The Panthers hope to improve their 3-1 record this week as they travel to Stockdale, Thursday, October 9, for the beginning of district play at 6:15pm
