The 4th Annual Bands 4 Band Music Festival will be held this Saturday, April 26 at Yett Memorial Park from 12:00 Noon until 11 p.m. Admission to the festival is $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. This year, the festival will feature local favorites Zydeco Blanco, Bobby Mack, Devil’s Hollow, Allen Ray Wallace, Jim Raby Band and The Hair Farmers (featuring Blanco Panther Band alums Tucker McClung and Clifford Benson). As always, the highlight of the day will be performances by the Blanco Panther Marching Band and the Panther Drumline.
Bands 4 Band was started four years ago as a way to supplement the needs of a growing band program. The Blanco Panther Band has grown significantly over the last several years and to continue to provide the best possible support to the program, monetary contributions are very important. Proceeds from Bands 4 Band go to the Blanco Band Boosters and the funds are used to lessen fees associated with band participation for students.
This year, in consideration of the recent passing of one of the Band Program’s alumni, Forrest Jones, a portion of the proceeds from this year’s festival will go to his family to assist with expenses. Forrest was a member of the Panther Drumline and such a big part of the growth and success of the line. He will be remembered always and greatly missed. Forrest was a huge help in the first three years of the festival and this year’s festival will be a chance for Blanco to pay tribute to this fine young man that loved the Band so much.
Gates will open at 12:00 Noon and the first band will take the stage at 1:00 with the Panther Band performing at 4:00 p.m. Please visit the website: www.bands4band.com for more information and to view the performance schedule.
