Blanco’s U14 Soccer Team, the Blanco Bulls, ended their 2013 soccer season with a great victory over the Pflugerville Mavericks on Saturday, November 2nd. The Bulls beat the Mavericks 4-2 in an intense, high-energy game. Parents, relatives, and friends could not hold their emotions as the team fought their way to this great victory - a wonderful way to end the 2013 fall season!

The Blanco Bulls are the first team from the Blanco League to play in a regional tournament organized by the Central Austin Youth Soccer Association (CAYSA). All of the team’s games required traveling to places such as Austin and Buda, and even as far as Temple, a two and a half hour road trip. Participating in CAYSA brought the new challenge of playing against larger teams that compete year-round. “In addition to competing against players with more experience, what was most challenging for the Bulls, was that we are a small team of only thirteen players, all of whom often had to play the entire game with no breaks”, said Coach Luis Ramirez. To prepare for these new challenges, the Bulls met twice a week in Blanco to work on improving their skills and becoming a polished, well-coordinated team.

This year the Blanco Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) served more than 140 Blanco youth in several age categories (U6 – U14). The BYSA League has been growing steadily every year and plans to build a UIL size soccer field at Yett Park. We welcome community involvement and assistance with the funding and building of BYSA’s new soccer facilities. We thank all of the parents who volunteered their time as coaches, referees, assistants, and team moms. We also express our gratitude to the many business sponsors that are so vital to the League’s operations. We look forward to a bigger and even more exciting 2014 soccer season.
