Blanco Middle School Student Malinda Campbell doesn’t believe in waste, at least where her hair is concerned. The 11 year old had been growing out her hair, but decided it was time for a cut and opportunity presented itself in the form of a good cause.

“I wanted to help kids that had been through a hard time. My mom helped me find an organization that gives free wigs to kids who need them. She contacted the American Cancer Society and they suggested Wigs for Kids.” said Malinda. “I had 12 inches cut off. It was hard because some other places only required 8 or 10 inches. But I really wanted to help kids and decided Wigs for Kids was a good organization.”

Wigs for Kids is an organization that, for over 30 years, has provided children with Hair Replacement Systems at no cost to children or their families. All it takes is donations from people like Malinda.

Malinda encourages other to donate when they can. “It’s a good cause. If you have long hair, do it! It will grow back and you are helping someone who really needs it.”
