The coming summer months should be much more pleasant than those of last year. The combination air conditioning and heating unit has not been working correctly at the Blanco County Jail. Anyone who has experienced the summer heat of south central Texas can certainly appreciate the importance of air conditioning.
According to Blanco County Judge Bill Guthrie, “When the jail was built the combination air conditioning and heating unit wasn’t constructed properly. The unit was configured for natural gas, and we do not have natural gas in the building. We have propane.”
“In recent months as the weather has changed from cold to warm and back again the improperly constructed unit would knock out the air conditioning when the heat came on.” The problem has recurred for a number of months, and in January the General Contractor was contacted. The General Contractor met with his sub-contractor and apprised him of the situation at the Blanco County Jail.
The contractors replaced the damaged parts and the units are now configured for propane instead of natural gas. Judge Guthrie was happy to report that, “As of early March all is in order! And the contractor and sub-contractor were willing to stand behind their work.”
