Members of the Blanco FFA and Blanco Jr. FFA completed another successful livestock show season, placing animals at both Houston and Austin as the 2012-2013 show season came to an end. Leading the way for the local exhibitors were Katherine Biggs and Brenna Wallace, as each placed 3rd in the market steer show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Katherine’s 3rd place ribbon in the AOB division qualified her for the premium sale, as did Brenna’s placing in the Simbrah class. Emily Biggs also made it to the sale ring with a 10th place Charolais steer, as did TJ Hardin with a 7th place Medium Wool lamb and Joanna Delavan with a 12th place South Down lamb. Others placing animals included: Kelton Marek 9th place Santa Gertrudis steer, Kolby Marek 11th place Chester White barrow, and Logan Dodd 11th place Crossbred barrow.
Following Houston, several local students competed at the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo in Austin. Leading the way were Jr. FFA members Kinidi Moore with a 5th place Yorkshire barrow in the hog show and Carlin Green with a 6th place AOB steer.
Advisors for the Blanco FFA and Blanco Jr. FFA are Felice and Jason Marek.
