The Peyton Colony School is opening its doors this Saturday, April 6. Volunteers have been working to remodel and repair the old school building in preparation for the event. The community is invited to hear first-hand what it was like to attend the school from those who actually did.
Students who attended the school are invited to attend this weekend and reminisce about the good ol’ days. Barney Cline will film the remembrances to help preserve the history and integrity of the students and schoolhouse.
The event kicks off at 2:30pm with a brief meeting of the Blanco County Historical Commission in the fellowship hall of the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church (593 Peyton Colony Rd., off FM 165). The group will then take a walk over to the school for the main event. After that, a caravan will head over to Peyton Colony Cemetery for a brief tour.
