John E. Walton enjoyed 85 wonderful years of life, leaving us on February 12, 2013. He was born on July 5, 1927 in Denver, Colorado to Edward and Josephine Walton. John was blessed with a sister Barbara Brun and brother Jim and sister-in-law, Nancy Walton. He married Lucille Walton in Boulder, Colorado 58 years ago on September 4, 1954. He attended North High School and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master’s Degree in Education. He proudly served in the United States Navy.
John was the Assistant Medical Examiner for 33 years for the State of Texas. He and Lucille raised their family in Austin, Texas and later retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 2009 they moved to Blanco, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
John was an expert at crossword puzzles, and had an extraordinary sense of humor. He had a way of touching people with his piercing blue eyes that made everyone else’s eyes sparkle too.
John is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Walton, his daughter Mary Jo Isenberg with son-in-law, Sid Isenberg of Blanco, Texas and their children Sarah and grand-son-in-law, Chris Tucker, who live in Little Elm, Texas and grandson, Sam Isenberg of Blanco. John’s oldest son, Chuck Walton, resides in Austin, Texas. His second son Michael and daughter-in-law Brenda Walton reside in Round Rock, Texas. Michael and Brenda’s family includes John’s grandchildren Kirsten, Ben, Grace and Betty Marie. John and Lucille’s youngest daughter Elizabeth Walton also lives in Austin, Texas.
The service honoring John E. Walton will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church in Blanco, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the “Alzheimer’s Association” at alz.org on the “donate” tab in his memory. There will be a reception immediately following the funeral mass at the church hall and everyone is invited to come and visit.
John’s family would like to thank all the friends and caregivers who helped to make John’s last months as comfortable and peaceful as possible. He is a beautiful soul who will be missed immensely.
