The Blanco FFA Livestock Judging Team competed in their first contest of the year this past weekend in Seguin as they participated in the Guadalupe County Livestock Judging Contest. Overall, there were 49 teams and 133 contestants competing in the junior and senior divisions.
In the junior division, Blanco Jr. FFA member Kolby Marek placed 10th overall while ranking 6th in Swine and 9th in Cattle. Also competing in the junior division and placing well was Kelton Marek.
In the senior division, Blanco placed 7th overall as a team while finishing 2nd in Cattle, 2nd in Sheep and 10th in Swine. Individually, Katherine Biggs placed 2nd in Cattle, while Tyler Hardin and Ed Alvarado placed 5th and 8th respectively in Sheep. Other local FFA members competing in the senior division included Joanna Delavan, Kari Graham, Bret Leigh Nance, Sam Isenberg, Skylar Itz and Logan Dodd.
The livestock team’s next contest will be Saturday, October 27, in Brady, where they will compete in the Heart of Texas Livestock Judging Contest.
