The Blanco FFA recently competed in two events at the Tarleton State University National Invitational Career Development Events on September 27th and 28th in Stephenville, Texas. Blanco’s Entomology team consisting of Megan Wier, Erica Flores, Monica Flores and Rance Dollahite won their respective events and brought home the title of 2012 National Champions. Individually, Megan placed first overall, while Rance placed second, Erica third, and Monica fifth. Blanco also finished more than 100 points ahead of the second-place team from Labette County, Kansas.
Also competing and doing well was the Environmental & Natural Resources team of Jace Ammons, Kyle Sauceda, Colton Childress and Skylar Itz. The team placed first overall with Jace, Kyle, Colton and Skylar placing first, second, third, and fourth respectively. The ENR team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana on October 23 to 26 to compete in the National ENR contest at the National FFA Convention.
For their efforts and success, both teams were awarded $1,000 scholarships by Tarleton State University. Advisors for the Blanco FFA are Felice and Jason Marek.
