The Highland Lakes Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists (which includes members from Blanco, Burnet and Llano Counties) held their annual Holiday/Awards Banquet in Blanco this past week. The gala affair was held at the Old Blanco County Courthouse and over 100 people (members and their spouses) attended.
The annual party is held to celebrate not only the holidays, but to recognize members for their volunteer services to their communities. The Highland Lakes Chapter has been in existence for almost ten years and this year the 125 active members contributed over 11,000 hours of community service. They also attended almost 2000 hours of advanced training in a myriad of nature and conservation topics.
The Master Naturalists from Blanco who hosted the event were proud to be able to bring additional business to the community. The main entree for the party was catered by Sullivan Street Caterers. The Best Western Hotel provided a special rate to the Master Naturalists and several members took advantage of the offer to relax and spend the night in Blanco. And everyone in attendance raved about the quaint setting of the Courthouse as a perfect venue for the affair. Based on the feedback from departing guests, not only was a good time had by all, but they want to come back again.
