Lee Benjamin Casparis, 86, passed away January 16, 2015 in Johnson City. Lee was born in Johnson City to Howard Milton and Regina Smith Casparis. He was raised in Johnson City and graduated from Johnson City High School where he was part of a winning basketball team. Lee attended Tarleton State University. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany. Lee enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a life-long, faithful and very active member of Johnson City First United Methodist Church. Lee was a regular at the Blanco Bowling Alley, both on the lanes and in the diner.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Libby Casparis, special friend Moline Lorenz, second wife, Blanche Casparis; sister, Kathleen Nell Norris; two brothers, John Christian and Raymond Franklin Casparis.
He is survived by two brothers, Jim R. Casparis and wife Millie and Bill Casparis and wife Theresa; dear stepchildren, Bill Althaus and wife Cheryl and their son Brian and Josephine Smith and her son Scott; nieces and nephews, Carey, Jason, Jon, Susie, Terry, Kelly, and Melia. Lee B. is also survived by his dear friends Will and June Dahmann as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, January 23, 2015 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Johnson City First United Methodist Church, 105 LBJ Dr., Johnson City, TX 78636 with Rev. Lee Romero officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson City Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson City First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 207, Johnson City, TX 78636
Pallbearers will be Will Dahmann, Tom Hardy, Jim Odiorne, James Sultemeier, Bob Anderson, and Jerry Casparis.
