Spreading the Christmas Spirit in Blanco (Features)

I'd love to share with Blanco a neat story. Recently a rare thing happened in our shop. One of our favorite customers bumped into another. Jimmie, a lady senior citizen who drives to our shop from Johnson City, came in to have her oil changed. She is a character to say the least. Always smiling, full of jokes and will talk my ear off when I'm lucky enough to sit with her. As she drove into our parking lot I commented to the two men in our waiting room that they were in for a treat.

Unfortunately this was one of those days I couldn't afford the time to hear Jimmie's latest jokes. She was left alone in the waiting room with one of the men for around ten minutes. I have no clue what was said or asked in my absence. I only came back in the office to collect from Kurt and send him on his way. While I was finishing up his ticket he grabbed a small notepad and scribbled something down. He passed it to me and it simply said "add her oil change to my bill". Neither of us said a word. I knew what her bill would be since she frequents our shop. I tallied his bill, plus hers, and charged his card. Then thanked him and sent him on his way.

About ten minutes later Jimmie's car was done and I told her she was ready to go. I told her the cowboy that was just chatting with her wanted to pay for her oil change. She immediately puffed up and said she wouldn't allow it. I had to point out to Jimmie that it was too late because Kurt was ten miles down highway 281. That was the end of the argument.

I stapled his note to her bill, where I would normally attach her credit card receipt. She was teary eyed when she asked me for his phone number. I know this cowboy very well and the gentlemen is just about as hard of hearing as I am. If she tried to call him on his cell phone while he was driving down the road I seriously doubt the correct message would have made it across. Instead I gave her Kurt's address. I have no doubt a neat card is in the mail.

I don't want to say last names, but have no doubt that half the community will know who he is when I say how blessed our town is to have him and his wife, Kurt and Dawn, among us. What an amazing pair!
