After a week off, the Panthers looked rested and ready to begin district play as they traveled to Stockdale to take on the Brahmans. After just one quarter of play, it was evident that Blanco had the game under control as they cruised to an easy 49 – 0 victory, improving to 6 and 0 on the year and more importantly 1 and 0 in district.

Blanco opened the first quarter scoring on a 61 yard 7 play drive ending with a 1 yard TD run from Adrian Dominguez. Justin Requenes added the PAT to make the score 7-0. After the Panther offense was forced to punt on their next possession, Carson Kipp droped a 40 yard punt on the Brahman 1 yard line. Ryan Ronces made sure Stockdale was pinned deep as he raced to the one and downed the ball. On the ensuing play, Blanco’s “D” droped the Stockdale rusher in the end zone for a safety to close out the first quarter scoring at 9 – 0 in favor of the Panthers.

The second quarter saw Blanco add three touchdowns to extend their lead. Colton Elrod scored first on a 5 yard run. Dominguez then scored his second of the night on an 8 yard run before Colton added his second score of the night with time running down on a 41 yard pass play from McKay Adamson. Requenes converted 2 of 3 extra points to make the halftime score 29 – 0.

The Panthers wasted little time finding the end zone as the second half began with senior Logan Dodd returning the kick-off 78 yards for the touchdown. Then, following a Stockdale turnover, Dodd picked-up his second touchdown of the quarter on a 10 yard run. Finally, with the third quarter coming to an end, Aaron Uballe saw some action and score his first TD of the season on a 5 yard run. Requenes would again convert 2 of 3 PAT’s to close out the scoring as Blanco simply ran out the clock in the fourth quarter to preserve the 49 – 0 shut-out victory.

Offensively, the Panthers rolled up 392 yards in offense while picking up 22 first downs. Once again, the Blanco ground game chewed up 333 yards on 36 rushes. Leading the rushing attack was Adrian Dominguez with 14 carries for 152 yards. Colton Elrod and Logan Dodd also added to the totals, combing for 107 yards.

Defensively, Blanco continued to show why they have the area’s #1 ranked defense as the Panthers held Stockdale to just 4 first downs and only 77 total yards in offense. Blanco also forced 3 turnovers, interceptions by Colton Elrod and Logan Dodd, and a fumble recovery by Ryan Ronces.

The Panthers, ranked #10 in the state, will finally return home this week for the first time in almost a month as they host the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs for homecoming. The 4 and 2 Mustangs come into the game after falling to Karnes City last week 20-18. In other district play, Poth easily defeated Natalia 48-7. Kick-off at Panther Stadium is set for 7:30 pm.
