On Saturday, September 6, 2014, James Kealey Calhoun, age 76, passed away peacefully at home from the effects of multiple strokes. He was surrounded by his family and under the loving care of Hill Country Memorial Hospice.
James was born in Blanco County on Nov. 9, 1937. He was a member and elder of Blanco Cowboy Church of Blanco which he co-founded with his wife, Arnella, in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cecil Calhoun, Sr.; his older brother, Robert Cecil Calhoun, Jr.; sister-in-law, Hazel Gourley Calhoun; his brother-in-law, Randall Monroe Hohenberger; and his nephew, Cole Calhoun.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arnella Hohenberger Calhoun of Blanco; his daughter, Charlotte Calhoun McMullan and son-in-law, Clifton McMullan of Eldorado;
Their two sons, Jess McMullan of College Station and Lucas McMullan of Crested Butte, Colorado; mother, Leona Jennings Calhoun of Blanco; sister, Bonnie Calhoun Wood and brother-in-law, John Wood of Blanco; two brothers, Joe Dean Calhoun and Roy Gene Calhoun both of Blanco; sister-in-law, Maxine Jonas Calhoun of Blanco; sister-in-law, Donna Hohenberger Arz of Auburn, California; many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5pm until 8pm. Graveside Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Sharp Cemetery east of Blanco.
Because of his love for all youth, the family desires any memorial gifts to be given to the “James Calhoun Youth Scholarship Fund” c/o Blanco Cowboy Church, P O Box 665, Blanco, Texas.
