Our small CASA kids need big voices! Will you stand up and speak for a child in crisis? CASA is the link between the present and the future for children placed in the foster-care system.
CASA for the Highland Lakes Area is forming its first training class of 2013. A non-profit organization, CASA speaks up for the best interest of abused and neglected children in Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano, and San Saba counties.
CASA for the Highland Lakes is in need of 50 volunteer advocates over the next several months. A Court Appointed Special Advocate can make the single greatest difference in the life of a child.
A CASA advocate is appointed by a judge to provide factual information on behalf of a child caught in a difficult legal process. The advocate researches the case, learning everything they can about the child’s special situation. The CASA then writes thorough reports to the judge on what is in the best interest of the child.
Training consists of 30 classroom hours and 3 hours of courtroom observation. The next volunteer training class will begin soon!
