Wow! We sure have a full issue this week! I wasn’t planning on writing a column but I’ve found a little space so I thought I would give a shout-out to the people who, in my opinion, have one of the toughest jobs out there.
Hey Customer Service Job oriented folks! I hope you are all well. I hope you haven’t had anyone scream at you today for something that wasn’t your fault. I hope someone took the time to say Thank You to you today.
I worked in food service for many years, and I did over-the-phone customer service for three more years, it’s no picnic.
To be clear, yeah, I made mistakes worth having someone yell at me about. I’m not saying that doesn’t happen. However, most of the problems I dealt with in customer service were not earth shattering, despite what I was trying to be convinced of.
So another shout out to you, consumers, take a second to breath before you make that call or shame that waitress. Remember the Golden Rule and that you attract more flies with honey. We’re all just a bunch of humans. To be human is to err, and that’s true for both sides.
