The Blanco Panther baseball team played a best-of-three game series against the Luling Eagles in the Bi-District playoff round. Game one was played at Blanco on Thursday, May 1 with the Panthers grabbing a 6-0 shut-out win.
Josh McCaslin got the win on the mound pitching 6 innings and scattering 2 hits. Kyle Gray batted 3 for 3. Kyle Sauceda had an rbi double. CJ Lovalvo hit 2 rbis. The Panthers had the perfect game defensively committing no errors.
The series continued with game 2 at Luling on Saturday, May 3. The Panthers lost a close one, 1-2. Gray took the loss, pitching 7 strong innings, striking out 7 and giving up only 3 hits. The Panther offense sputtered, managing only 2 hits.
McKay Adamson pitched game 3 and was relieved by Gray in the 6th inning. The Panthers had only 6 hits in game 3, falling 3-5. Jake Breeding led the team going 2 for 3.
The Panthers graduate 4 seniors including McCaslin, Sauceda, Chase Glowka, and Terry Yarbrough. Junior team members are Gray, Adamson, Breeding, Carson Kipp, Logan Dodd, Ty Royce, Jack Morgan, Grant Calzoncit, and Colton Elrod. Freshman CJ LoValvo also returns.
The Panthers recorded a 17-7 season record.
