Mark Kuebel is a Life Scout working on his Eagle Rank. He has recently finished one more step toward that goal, his Eagle Scout Project.
Mark’s project can be seen behind the Middle School. It consists of a water capture system and an array of raised beds for the garden area. Mark used recycled materials when he could, such as, old guard rails and crushed glass. Ms. Pam Meier, a science teacher at the Middle School, used some of the compost from the tumblers to mix with the soil that put in the beds. She has been a major influence in this project and will be using the garden with her science classes.
Mark planned his project well and the Boy Scouts finished the project just after lunch. First the area was emptied and scraped then ground cloth was laid. The Scouts then cut the boards and assembled the beds so they could be filled with compost and soil. In finishing up the tumblers were brought back in the area and everything was picked up.
The Eagle Scout Service Project was a wonderful opportunity for Mark to use the leadership skills he has been learning in Boy Scouts.
