Life Scout Thomas Kirkscey has recently completed his Eagle Scout Service Project. The Service Project is the opportunity for a Scout to demonstrate leadership of others and complete a project for the benefit of his community.
Thomas chose to update the landscaping at Gem of the Hills. He researched plants for the area that would best suit the climate. After putting together the supplies, he set his date and invited fellow Scouts, friends, and family. The project was well organized and as helpers came to help, each was given a job. As the project was finishing up, Thomas realized the area in front of his project was in need of sprucing up so it would not distract from his project. He extended his scope and finished that also.
Boy Scouts are admonished to “do your best to help in your home, school, religious establishment, and community.” Thank you, Thomas, for a job well done.
