Are you trying to find your ‘center’? If your center is yourself, then you might be going ‘round in circles because your mind is constantly changing it’s opinions. Our thoughts are never stationary, and are subject to roller coaster emotions that are affected by other people! We can’t remain steady because our minds are not stable. Tell me if you know someone whose mind remains fixed and unchanging! Our emotions won’t allow us to remain fixed. But God’s Word is fixed. It’s stable and unchanging. If we have God as our center, then we have someone to come back to when we get too far out there and don’t know what to do.
How many of us have said, “Gee, I wish there was a book that tells me how to raise my children.” Well folks, I found out too late that there is. It’s God’s Word. Unfortunately, I wasn’t reading it when my children were young. But you may have the opportunity to allow God’s Word to help you raise your children or grandchildren. The LORD does teach us. He has given us His wisdom in His Word. Check out Psalms, Proverbs, and of course, the Gospel’s.
For example, Jesus taught us how to resolve conflicts amongst ourselves. He said “15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.” Matthew 18:15-17
You see, He teaches us to go directly to the person, one on one, not go tell everyone you know instead of the one person you have an issue with.
Psalm 146:1-10 “1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:
9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.” (KJV)
God is not imaginary; He is real. Seek Him through His Word, and become acquainted with His Son, Jesus Christ. Ask & receive; speak to Jesus and invite Him into your heart. Just ask & receive Him into your heart.
Psalm 15:1-5 “1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.”
There is so much knowledge and wisdom in God’s Word! And we still have time to learn of Him. We are still alive! Praise God for yet another day of life!
How can we believe if there is no life in us? We must believe while we are living; because in John 9:4 Jesus said “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
