Panther Basketball on a Roll, Win Back to Back (Sports)

The Panther Basketball Team started their season with back to back wins over the Brooks Academy Bengals and the Center Point Pirates. On Thursday, November 14, the Panthers defeated the Bengals 47-30. Kyle Sauceda paced the Panthers scoring 18 points. Carlin Green ripped the nets for 15 points. Brett Champion scored 9, with Trent Dechert adding 3. Tyler Schlinke made 2 points. The junior varsity also beat Brooks, 38-22. Ross Edwards led the team scoring 10 points. Garrett Seales sank 9 points with Dawson Albin adding 8. Robbie Arlitt scored 6 and Noah Wheeler and Diego Alegria each added 2 points. Jacob Robinson scored 1 point on a free throw.

On Monday, November 18, the varsity boys overwhelmed the Pirates, 66-27. Ty Royce scored 10 points to lead the Panthers, followed closely by Brett Champion with 9. Kyle Sauceda, Josh McCaslin, and Alfredo Amezquita each scored 8 points, Trent Dechert and Carlin Green added 7 points each. Tyler Schlinke sank 5 points, with Dru Ramirez adding 4.

The Panther Basketball Team is currently ranked 25th in the state on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 2A poll. Come watch this exciting team at their next home game on Monday November 25 at the BHS gym as they take on the San Saba Armadillos. Game times begin with Freshmen at 4:30, Junior Varsity at 5:45, and Varsity at 7:00.
