Philip Marshall Anderson passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was a beloved brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Anderson, Margery Hunt (Anderson) Hearn, and his sister Bonnie Miner. He was a genuine hero with a heart of gold.
Phil grew up in Ludlow and Springfield, Vermont, graduating from Springfield High School in 1968 and later attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam in the Infantry 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, Hotel Company.
After moving to Texas in 1980, Phil ran several restaurants including The Stallion and Convict Hill in Austin, Phil's BBQ in Blanco and he managed the Byram Ranch in Henly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Blanco 215 and Blanco VFW; and served as a Blanco Volunteer Fireman and Blanco City Council member. He was the owner of Anderson Locksmith in Marble Falls providing services to many in the greater highland lakes area.
He is survived by his brothers, Cliff Anderson of Austin, and Jay Anderson of Minnesota; Sisters: Lynne Hildreth and Robin Anderson from Massachusetts. He also has several nieces and nephews. Kim Anderson, Angelica Miner and Dawn Bright live in the Austin area.
At Phil’s request, his body was donated to BioEthical Anatomics.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Marble Falls on Saturday, November 9th with greeting at 10am and service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite animal shelters or veterans organizations in Phil’s name.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be held at 604 Broadway in Marble Falls, Texas on Friday, November 8th from 1pm to 9pm.
