Mary Jo Paske Liesmann, 65, of Austin, Texas, died at home on Friday, November 1, 2013. She was born October 25, 1948 in Albuquerque, NM, to Bill and Josephine Paske. A native of Waco, Mary Jo graduated from Reicher High School in 1967. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Art History in 1983 from the University of Texas at Austin, while juggling small children at home and a full time job. She was recently recognized for her 25+ years of service to UT Austin.
Mary Jo could cook even the healthiest of meals and make it tasty, and nearly everything she touched in her garden would flourish. Among her many interests, she took pride in her affiliation with the Ethical Society of Austin. She was a highly compassionate and intelligent mother who poured herself into her family and friends. Her altruism, sincerity, and passions will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Linda Kay Ickert. She is survived by husband Larry Liesmann of Blanco; son Brandon Witzel and wife Nicole of Austin; daughters Adrienne Witzel and Kathleen Liesmann of Austin; grandchildren, Lily, Thomas, and Robert; brother Robert Paske of Reisel; aunt Magdalen Werline and husband Billy of Robinson; niece Angela Pasetes and husband Roel of McKinney; and nephew David Ickert of Frisco.
The family will host a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home, North Lamar, where funeral services will also be held the following morning, Wednesday November 6th at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas.
