The Panthers played a complete game this past Friday, rolling out 48 unanswered points and returning to Blanco with a 48 to 7 victory and bumping their season record to 5 and 4. More importantly, with the win, the Panthers improved to 3 and 2 in district play and clinched a play-off spot. In addition, with Jarrell defeating Schulenburg, the Panthers are now in the hunt for 2nd place depending on how things play out this Friday.

Although the opening quarter provided few highlights other than a 14-yard TD run by Colton Elrod and an Aikman Elrod PAT, the second quarter saw Blanco score four times, as Colton added three more scoring runs of 2, 31 and 33 yards. Then, just before the half, McKay Adamson connected with Alex Palos for a 36-yard TD pass. Aikman Elrod connected on all 4 PATs in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 35 to 0 lead at halftime.

Blanco returned for the third quarter scoring two more times. First, Adrian Dominguez scampered 52 yards for the Panthers’ 6th touchdown of the night before Carson Kipp closed out the Panther scoring with a 9-yard score. Aikman went 1 for 2 on PATs to increase the score to 48 to 0.

It wouldn’t be until minutes into the fourth quarter that the Eagles managed to find the end zone on a 32-yard run by Workman. Deleon added the extra point to close out the game’s scoring at 48 to 7 in favor of Blanco.

On the offensive side of the ball, Blanco totaled almost 400 yards, with Colton Elrod leading the way with 173 yards rushing and 4 TDs. Adrian Dominguez and Logan Dodd followed with 75 and 46 yards respectively, as the Panthers picked up 18 first downs.

Defensively, Blanco held the Eagles to 208 yards while forcing 3 turnovers as Dru Ramirez and Dylan Bates would each be credited with a fumble recovery and John Hodge an interception.

The Panthers will return home this Friday for their regular season finale as they host the Randolph Ro-Hawks. Although the Panthers have clinched a play-off spot, a win over Randolph would most likely improve their play-off seeding. Kick-off at Panther Stadium is set for 7:30 pm.
