Letter to the Editor (Opinion)

It was my honor to be part of the First Annual Blanco Western Showcase and Eleventh Annual Knife and Tomahawk Championship at Carriage Hills Ranch and Buggy Barn Museum. It’s hard to coordinate, work, and pull off an event, but we did it. We had people from five countries (France, England, Germany, Australia, Canada) that I know of and many throughout the US who showed up for the competition. These were the nicest, most interesting, talented folks. We had entertainers who came from all over to be a part of this event, including a Chuck Wagon competition and meals. Thanks to our steering committee, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers (including the Blanco Band students), we had a very successful event. You can’t ask for a better venue than Carriage Hills Ranch. Watch for more updates coming from Buggy Barn Museum to continue to support these two fabulous shows. Thanks to Dennis Moore and Mike Bainton for having the vision for this and selecting Blanco to be the new home for this annual event, and for allowing me to help coordinate the whole thing. We even had Friday open for the school kids to preview and learn. Can’t wait for next year to grow this even more. Come be a part of an amazing event here in Blanco!
