Alumni year identifications are ready to go for the building dedication, scheduled for August 24 from 5-7 PM.

Blanco ISD will formally dedicate its historical building with an open house this Saturday in ceremonies scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. “We’ve put a lot of planning into this,” said Superintendent Dr. Buck Ford. “The event is open to everyone.”

The dedication will be the culmination of two-and-a-half years of renovations and improvements to the elementary campus.

“The historical building is a community treasure,” said Ford. “The local community came together, and supported a bond to both ensure its preservation, and at the same time significantly upgrade the educational facilities of our elementary students.”

The following are some of the plans scheduled for Saturday: Open House; Panoramic pictures taken by Goldbeck Photography;

Awards for: Oldest Graduate, Oldest Teacher, Longest Tenured Teacher, and a special memoriam for Bernice West; Refreshments in the cafeteria; Ribbon cutting and bell ringing ceremony.

Goldbeck Photography, specialists in panoramic pictures, is scheduled to take a picture of alumni similar to the 50th Anniversary alumni picture of 1934. Goldbeck will also take a panoramic picture of all those who are in attendance. The picture is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

Ford did want to add, “One thing that we’ve added to our ceremonies is the collection of items for a time capsule. We think it will appropriate in relation to the building’s historical significance.”

All persons in attendance may contribute small items to the time capsule.
