American Legion Boys State is a fast-paced, week-long, resident experience in leadership and civics held at the University of Texas at Austin for boys who have completed their junior high school year. The boys campaigned, held elections and created mock governments. The many speakers included Governor Rick Perry. Recreational activities included sports tournaments, a marching band and a talent show. Many colleges participated in an information fair. Concluding ceremonies were held at the state capitol.
