Eight scouts and three scout leaders loaded up on Sunday June 23, 2013 at the Blanco United Methodist Church for their trip to Worth Ranch near Palo Pinto Texas.

They stayed for 7 days and 6 nights in 100-degree weather, sleeping in tents.

They participated in Archery, Swimming, Fly Fishing, Fishing, Leather and Woodcarving, Archaeology, Geology, Camping, E Science, Snorkeling, Photography, Citizenship of the Nation, First Aid, Orienteering, Wilderness Survival, and Hammer Patrol. The Scouts were in class from 8:30 to 5:30.

Every day there was a morning flag ceremony, breakfast, classes until lunch, then classes again, closing flag ceremony, and dinner. Leaders also attended some training classes.

Troop 497 participated in all the evening activities – campfire, western night, and family night.

The camp staff was motivational and inspiring to the scouts.

On Wednesday night our troop climbed Kyle Mountain with a sleeping bags and flashlights to sleep under the stars and wake to the beautiful sunrise to earn a Kyle Mountain Sunrise Club patch.

The troop also earned the Wrangler award for participating in some extra activities such as presenting a Flag Ceremony, doing a campfire skit, creating a camp gadget, doing a conservation project, and sunrise club, as well as passing daily inspections.

We all enjoyed Worth Ranch Summer Camp and hope the next camp will be just as great!
