Alzheimer’s Association Offers Educational Luncheon (Community News)

Recent reports show that 1 in 3 seniors dies with a form of dementia, and in Texas alone, 1,294,000 people care for a loved one with dementia. Many in our community are struggling with the challenges of caregiving, but help is available.

The Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter is offering a free class on “Coping with Alzheimer’s,” which will provide guidance on how families can meet these challenges. The class will meet over lunch at Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City from 11:30-1:00 pm, and will cover such topics as: assembling a care team, coping with grief, managing changing family roles, disease stages, tips for communicating and managing behaviors, and how to access community resources.

The luncheon will be held on Thursday, July 25, from 11:30-1:00 pm, and is free to attend. The class will be held at Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City.

Lunch is free but registration is required. Call (512) 241-0420 or email txprograms@txalz.org to reserve your spot.
