Blanco County is partnering with area agencies to plan for our future, focusing on economic development and transportation. Judge Bill Guthrie worked with county commissioners and local stakeholders to partner with the Capital Area Council of Governments to guide the development of the plan. The plan will create a vision for economic growth and transportation improvements Blanco County through the year 2040.
The first public meeting for input on the plan will be held April 25, 2013 starting at 6 p.m. in the Pedernales Electric Cooperative Auditorium (E. Babe Smith Headquarters Bldg., 201 S. Avenue F, Johnson City, TX 78636). Anyone who is interested in learning more or providing input to the plan is encouraged to attend. This will be the first of two public meetings that are currently planned to receive input either verbally or in writing to help guide development of the plan. Light refreshments will be served. For those that cannot attend the meeting, the project website is updated with additional information and a brief questionnaire at http://www.blancocountyplan.org, and project planner David Fowler, AICP is available via phone or e-mail (512-916-6165, dfowler@capcog.org).
The Texas Department of Transportation is actively engaged in the process and the Texas A&M
Transportation Institute is supporting the process through data analysis and report assistance. The people of Blanco County benefit from their involvement by cooperatively working on this plan for transportation and economic development.
