The District 27-AA champions fashioned a two-day total of 704 to finish one shot behind Regional winner East Bernard, and in a tie with district rival Lago Vista at the Region IV-AA golf tournament held at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos.
“We set our sights on the state tournament three years ago,” said head coach Scott Balmos. “We did not play our best golf at the Regional tournament this year, but we got it done when it counted.”
The Panthers almost took the championship trophy, finishing behind winner East Bernard by one stroke. Sixteen schools and 112 golfers competed in the tournament. Coach Balmos has high expectations for the state meet, which will be held on May 2nd and 3rd at Roy Kizer golf course in Austin. Shotgun start time is 8:00 AM each day.
“I would like to thank all my current players, boys and girls, and all that have played for me since we started the program six years ago,” said Balmos. “The achievement is a milestone for Blanco ISD, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
