The Fredericksburg Music Club is pleased to present Nancy Zhou, violinist, in concert on April 21, 2013. The concert will be at 3:00 pm at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. A good will offering will be taken to help defray the expenses of this concert. The concert will include pieces by Bach, Ysaye, Debussy, and Wieniawski Nancy Zhou, born in 1993 and a native of San Antonio, Texas, began violin studies at age four with her father, Long Zhou, who continued to be her teacher throughout her youth. Now currently a student of Miriam Fried at the New

England Conservatory and of Harvard University, Nancy has performed with major orchestras such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Baden-Baden Philharmonie, Finnish Radio Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, San Antonio Symphony, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and has given recitals in Switzerland, Germany, and the US.

She is also the first prizewinner of the 2009 Johansen International Competition,

2009 Chinese International Violin Competition, recipient of the Rastor Special Prize and laureate of the 2010 Sibelius International Violin Competition and of the 2012 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition.

An avid participant in chamber music, she was a member of the 2012 Verbier Festival Academy and 2008 Aspen Music Festival. She has collaborated with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter on tour in Europe (2011) and will be on tour in Asia with Ms. Mutter this summer.

Currently, Nancy plays an instrument kindly loaned by Reuning and Sons, Boston.

Of particular interest to our local residents is that Ms. Zhou has been influenced in music by her father and teacher, Long Zhou, and was regularly a part of the strings section of the Symphony of the Hills. Long Zhou is the concertmaster for the Symphonyof the Hills.

Part of this concert is underwritten by a grant from the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance.
