On Sunday afternoon, April 7, the Blanco Cowboy Church hosted the first of three Youth Buckle Series Playdays. Entry Fees were paid by attendance at the morning worship service and the young cowboys and cowgirls were then fed by a delicious covered dish lunch before they mounted their horses and gathered at the arena fence for opening prayer.

Under beautiful cloudy skies there were five age groups who competed in three events: cloverleaf barrels, pole bending and baseball race.

Tack awards were presented after the final event with each youth selecting thir prize beginning with first place winners. The second of three youth Playdays will be held May 5 with the third and final Playday on June 2 where points will be counted and the buckles that were designed by “Legend Tack & Silver” will be awarded to the five hi-point youth.

The young cowboys and cowgirls made everyone proud of them as they truly “Rode for Jesus” exemplifying His Word as they shared their horses with each other and rooted for their competitors. After closing prayers for safe travels home, they loaded their horses and only one young cowboy contestant and one cowboy assistant were leaving with a few bruises from eating some arena dirt after getting “throwed”! The Lord was watching over them as He fulfilled His Word in their lives…Psalms 91:11-12…”for He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou shall dash thy foot against a stone.”
