The wind may have nearly blown us out of the courthouse square on Saturday, but it did not dampen the high-spirits and fun in Blanco. Wild Women began converging on Blanco Friday night and continued on through Sunday all for the benefit of the Blanco Non-Profit Coalition.

Wild Woman Weekend, WWW, opened with a reception in the courthouse with delicious appetizers provided by Sullivan Street Caterers and wine provided by 4.0 Cellars. At the Real Ale Brewing Company Beer Babes and BBQ, Ronnie’s BBQ of Johnson City provided the food and Real Ale the beverages. Friday night, LBJ National Park supplied the projector and operators for the movie and Blanco EMS sold goodies. Run In Texas started the fun early Saturday morning with a 5k and 10k run. Rep. Jason Isaac and his lovely wife, Carrie, were on hand to help give out awards. Boy Scout Troop 497 helped keep runners hydrated and nourished along the trail. Sylvia Romero, from WWW, coordinated with Run In Texas to make this event flawless. After the run, ladies dropped by the Hill Country Memorial tent for more refreshments and health information. There were many smiling ladies in town thanks to your efforts.

Events continued throughout the day from yoga at Casa de Yoga by Tara O’Neill to fly fishing clinics by Harrison Nash. Melanie Van Akin of Heron’s Nest Herb Farm had women making misters and hand soap. Ladies also enjoyed Painting Like Pollock, Belly Dancing, displays of quilts in the library, walking with a naturalist, birding in the park, and shopping with local vendors and merchants just to name a few of the fun activities. Thank you for keeping our ladies happy and busy.

Then, our wild women had a chance to attend one of two fun lunch venues. Sibby Barrett of Onion Creek Kitchens provided food and support for the Authors’ Luncheon while Whim Event Rentals provided the table decorations. Two fashion locals, The Vintage Cottage and Cowgirls and Lace, previewed their spring and summer clothing and accessories at the Shop the Hill Country Fashion Luncheon. The girls had a night out by finishing up at Casino Night, and close to 100 businesses and individuals donated items for the silent auction, raffles, and door prizes. Food from Costco, Love Baked, Sysco, Trader Joe’s, and Ben E Keith was available at events throughout the day and into the evening. Conversations and faces conveyed how much these events were thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for working so hard to make these happen.

Wild Women would like to thank the Public Works of Blanco for making our town look so enticing, the Volunteer Fire Department for helping Hill Country Memorial secure their tent, and Emergency Medical Services, EMS, for standing by in case of a medical emergency. Police Chief Ritchey and his professional force kept runners and participants safe throughout the entire weekend. Lesley Griffin at the Blanco Courthouse worked tirelessly with WWW to coordinate and answer questions. Blanco State Park and their personnel supplied a beautiful, nature canvas for runners and numerous other activities. Hill Country Memorial kept our spirits up as we planned the events and never lost confidence in our ability to make WWW a success for Blanco. Hill Country Memorial “Spoiled Us Rotten" with their support. Luna and 4.0 Cellars made it “All About the Women.” Real Ale Brewing Company, Sullivan Street Caterers, Whim Event Rentals, Napa Auto Parts-Blanco Auto Parts, Onion Creek Kitchens, and Ronnie"s BBQ “Indulged Us Wildly” with their support. “Pampering” support was given by Anders Realty, David Weekley Homes, GVTC, and Baptist Health System. Other supporters who “Tickled” us with their support were: Red Corral Ranch, Odiorne Ranch & Feed Supply, Reliable Fence, Pecan Street Brewing, Matt Wigglesworth, and Anders Realty. “Friends” of WWW were Love Baked, Dave Lageman, Moore-Tate Projects + Design, Charlotte Deans, DC Margaret Murphy Miller and Jeff Harkinson.

There are other terrific people and businesses that kept us looking good, if your name was inadvertently left out, please know that we greatly appreciated your support. Thanks to all for your support and generosity. You helped create one fantastic happening in Beautiful Blanco. Thanks to ALL the citizens of Blanco for their cooperation and support they have given to help this event materialize. Connie Barron must be given a special thank you for her guidance, energy, and untiring dedication to WWW. A great deal fell on her shoulders, and she carried it all without complaint and always a smile. Thank you also to ALL of the Wild Women Volunteers and their husbands, sons, relatives, and friends that made this weekend’s events happen with such precision.

Save the first weekend in April 2014 because we will be roaring back in a Wild Woman Way.
