A glimpse of the man God has called to bring this year’s Easter Sonrise Message. Father Justin Udomah pastors both the Catholic Churches in Blanco County. The parishioners of Saint Ferdinand’s in Blanco and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Johnson City love and are blessed to share their priest with one another and their communities. St. Ferdinand’s under Father Justin’s leadership and inspiration are generously raising funds to build a larger Sanctuary on the church grounds. Father Justin’s homilies are taken to heart by his parishioners as they walk out their faith each week. The homily is a commentary that follows a reading of scripture. Father Justin hones his homilies on Catholic Radio, Saturday at 6:30 PM, which repeats on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am. The name of the radio broadcast is “The Words Of Challenge.”
While fulfilling his call to Blanco County, Father Justin is studying hard for his Doctorate in Leadership from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas. Father Justin obtained his Master’s in Mass Communication from Texas State University in San Marcos, his Bachelor’s in Theology from Urban University in Rome, and his Bachelor’s in Philosophy from Ibdan University in Nigeria. Father Justin is a charismatic man on a mission from God. He desires to take his love for people and his education back to his country of birth to bring the Gospel of his Lord to his people.
Father Justin thinks that coming from another nation gives him insight in beginning some new and innovative things in the local church. For example, he started the “Healing Mass” which, while less traditional here in the States, is very common in his country and completely in line with the ministry of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Here are a few thoughts shared by Father Justin that will give you a hunger to hear this man of God on Resurrection Sunday Morning at Yett Memorial Park.
“Life is becoming more complex and the line of vision is getting increasingly blurred. For the most part, our human experience in the world today is loneliness and misery even in the midst of God’s beautiful creation and his abundant goodness. We do not have to live in tears. The problem is that we have missed the connection in a relationship that would lead to our happiness.”
Jeremiah laments, “They have forsaken me, the source of living waters; they have dug for themselves broken cisterns that hold no water” – Jer. 2:13.
“This is the sad story of our human situation; we need to be reconnected to God if we are to find meaning in life.” St Augustine says, “God created us for Himself and our hearts cannot find rest until they rest in Him.”“There is no peace, no hope and no fulfillment outside God. Our mission in this apostolate is to restore hope by sharing our faith with everyone so that all in turn may partake in the blessings of God’s goodness. Believe me, life is beautiful, and the sky would only be the beginning if we could paint ourselves with the divine color of God’s love.”
“It is one thing to say that we know Jesus, but it is another thing to actually know him. If we really want to know him, we have to draw near to him in spirit and in truth, listen to him, watch him closely, and meditate on what we see in him. Let us pray for the grace to experience his glory in our lives.”
We continue to extend this open invitation to Blanco’s Easter Sonrise Worship Service for the entire community starting at 6:15 am on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Yett Memorial Park on the west side of Hwy 281 just south of Blanco, Texas.
Rain or shine, the Sonrise service will take place, with breakfast and beverages prepared by Chef Steve Becker of the Chess Club at 6:15 am.
Worship led by John Lightfoot of Ark Revival Church will begin at 6:45 am.
Enjoy the message of Jesus’ resurrection presented by Father Justin Udomah in an informal outside setting.“Come as you are” to an informal outside setting and experience the wonder and majesty of God’s creation as you enjoy the message of Jesus’ resurrection. If you have never experienced an outdoor Sonrise service, you don’t know what you are missing! There is just something very spiritual and moving about hearing the message of the resurrection with the backdrop of the sun rising over Blanco as nature awakens with the light. It is as if you go from the gloom and fog that must have covered the earth when Jesus was crucified, to the beauty and wonder of the sunrise that symbolizes His resurrection and the hope and joy that was restored to man.
St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church Choir will be singing Resurrection Sunday Morning.
Cowboy legend and Blanco's own Lawrence Coffee will be teaching life lessons on roping through actual training and demonstrations using his Rodeo Roper Calf Roping Trainer. Cowboy up and show your skill at roping at this Sonrise Service. Lawrence is to be inducted into the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum and Hall of Fame this summer.
Come celebrate with the members of Ark Revival Church as we host your Sonrise Service.
