After the storm this weekend and the high winds late in February, there is much clean-up to be done. The sight of trash accumulating in the drainage ditches spoils the beauty of a Hill Country Spring. Please pick up debris along your property lines. The city and the county do not have the manpower, so take the initiative to Keep Blanco Beautiful by gathering bottles, fast food containers, and cans that are lying along the roadside in front of your residence.
April 13th is the annual Keep Blanco Beautiful Trash-Off event. Groups and individuals will meet at Bindseil Park at 9 a.m. to work together to remove trash from the public spaces in town. Volunteers registered by March 15 will receive a T-Shirt. Call Retta Martin to register in advance (833-4720). All volunteers will be rewarded with lunch after working all morning. This event is part of the National Trash-Off campaign. Look for the list of national sponsors on the banners about town. Local sponsors appear on the Trash-Off t-shirts! City residents can dispose of junk (furniture, appliances, etc) at the city yard the week of April 8 to 12 - pick up a voucher at the city offices. Do not bring tires or hazardous material. Tires can be disposed of at the County event at the end of April.
