Calling all women to come and celebrate with the ultimate gal-pal trip to the Texas Hill Country in Blanco, Texas, the first weekend of April, with an active, fun-filled weekend designed for women by women to “Party with a Purpose.”
A touch of spring in the air brings out our adventurous spirit, and the women of the Blanco (Texas) Non-Profit Coalition are no different. These women have been working all winter to produce the first Wild Woman Weekend in Blanco, a three-day event tailored to women’s interest. Starting Friday afternoon, April 5, and ending Sunday morning, April 7, a variety of activities and events will be open to women only.
They have planned a variety of activities including a 5k and 10k run on Saturday morning. Friday, enjoy beer tasting at Real Ale in the afternoon, an opening reception in the evening in the historic Old Blanco County Courthouse, Beer Babes and BBQ at Real Ale, and a “Chick” flick movie. Saturday morning recharge your motor and stretch your muscles with Boot Camp, Zumba, Tai Chi, yoga, or self-defense. Not feeling like moving so much? Try Breakfast with the Birds or fly-fishing lessons in Blanco State Park. Like something on the quieter side? There is the “Chick” Marketplace and Quilt Show. Getting hungry? Try the Book Lovers Luncheon where authors discuss their books (the multi-course lunch is catered by Onion Creek Kitchens) or attend the Shop Hill Country Luncheon with a Hill Country fashion show. After lunch, try journaling with writer Margie Crisp; aromatherapy to discover your personalized scent; work that lunch off with Zumba, Tai Chi, or fly-fishing; find your creative side and learn to Paint Like Polack; get a massage or a henna tattoo; or just enjoy the unique, small-town flavors of Blanco and the hill country. Finish the day with Girl’s Casino Night from 6 to 9 in the Historic Blanco Courthouse. To restore inner calmness and core muscles, yoga is scheduled for 10:00 am Sunday before heading home.
