The Blanco Panther junior varsity football team overpowered the Schulenburg Shorthorns 50-28 on Thursday, October 11. The Panthers scored 6 on a touchdown run by Adrien Dominguez in the first minutes of the game. The 2 point attempt failed. The defense held the Shorthorns, forcing them to punt. The Panthers moved the ball downfield on a run by Dominguez, a pass from Jordan Wagner to Ross Edwards, and a run by Logan Dodd. Dominquez scored again on a 3 yard carry. Wagner hit Dodd at the goal line for the 2 point conversion. The Panthers led 14-0 with 2:18 in the first quarter. Schulenburg scored on a pass play and the first quarter ended with Blanco leading 14-7. The Panthers scored 3 times in the second quarter. First, Dodd bolted 25 yards for a touchdown. Wagner again connected with Dodd for the 2-point conversion. Next, Wagner fit Dodd for a 30-yard touchdown pass play. Wagner and Dodd again combined for the 2-point PAT pass play. The Shorthorns took advantage of a Panther fumble scoring on a short run. The next Panther touchdown was an exciting 22-yard run by Chase Horton. The PAT failed. The Panthers took a 36-13 lead at the half. Beginning the third quarter, Schulenburg mounted a 60-yard touchdown drive and extra point to bring the score to Panthers 36 and Shorthorns 20. The Panthers fired back with a 50-yard touchdown dash by Dominguez. The Wagner-Dodd combination again added the 2-point PAT. After a fumble recovery by Eddie Torres, the Panthers moved the ball into scoring range on a run by Dominguez, a pass from Wagner to Edwards, and a pass from Wagner to Dodd. Aaron Uballe carried the ball on a 13-yard run for the touchdown. The PAT failed. The Shorthorns scored again with 1:18 remaining in the game. The final score was Blanco 50 and Schulenburg 28. The Junior Varsity now holds a 5 and 1 season record.
