Face the World, a non-profit organization, is looking for families to host international students for the upcoming school year. High school classes will start soon and interested parties should apply immediately.

The international students are between the ages of 15 and 18 years old and come from countries such as South Korea, Germany, Thailand, Brazil, China, Mexico, Norway and others. The exchange program focuses on breaking down misconceptions between cultures through the medium of international exchange.

There are no “typical” host families, whether it is a single parent, a childless couple, a retired couple or a large family. Families who host for Face the World are not paid, but open their homes in order to learn and share cultures and experiences with students from different countries.

Families can select an international student based on hobbies and interests as well as gender. Family screening includes a background check, an in-home interview, and a verification of personal references. The international students speak English and have their own spending money. Americans provide a caring environment, room and daily meals.
