In a recent poll, Mississippi came in as number one as having the worst eating habits in the country. As a whole, we are a pretty well fed country. Well fed, but yet with so many unsatisfied. Something is missing from the die, but it has more to do with spiritual food than anything else. We are hungry for one thing but starving because of the lack of something else. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48).
To hear Jesus and follow His teaching is to partake of Him. This is life. There is more to life than man’s physical being. We can be fed very well and be walking dead men.
Before coming to Christ the Ephesians were described as being dead in their trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1). The emptiness of a sin-filled, self-centered life can only be filled through the gift of Christ. In Him we find life, love, purpose, and hope. His values and principles give us a life that’s worth living. When our souls burn with a hunger for Him and His truth, we shall truly be filled (Matthew 5:6). What are your eating habits? Let us not fill our hearts and minds with those things that weaken the soul and and lead to spiritual malnourishment. Come to Christ!
