I am in awe of Christ, as I read His Word. I guess that’s because He is God, and He is the Living Word! Have you ever read His Words? He’s so smart, and phrases His words and sentences so precise, and to the point, without beating around the bush. If He were writing this article, I bet He’d do it in one fourth the space!
Have you noticed in reading the Gospels that He teaches us the good things about God, and His Kingdom, but also tells us the bad, too? He teaches us what will happen to us if we disobey God’s commands.
Are you attending a church where you only hear the good and none of the bad, or vice versa? Who wants to hear only the bad? How can we fall in love with God if we are only taught about what will happen to us if we don’t keep God’s commands? We really ought to share all the Gospel, not just certain parts of it. We really should follow Jesus’ example of preaching, and not the example of other preachers. And, since Jesus said His Words are spirit and life, perhaps we should just share His Words and not our own! In other words, just preach the Gospel, and quit putting a spin on it, or an opinion, or try to explain it. Just let the Holy Spirit give discernment, and allow people to exercise their free will to do a little research themselves! He said “seek and ye shall find.” We each have to seek. We can’t be lazy and hope someone will spoon feed us. God knows what we’re able to do. And if He sees us exerting energy to learn about other topics in life, yet won’t do the same to learn of Him, how much discernment do you think He’s going to give us, if we exert 15 minutes on Sunday? While the other 45 minutes of the hour in church is devoted to singing, watching others, and eating!
When we preach Jesus’ Words, they give the hearer of the Word life and His Spirit!
John 1:9 “9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
John 1:12-13 “12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
You see that? When we receive Him by BELIEVING in Him, He gives us power to become sons of God, and we are born of God (that’s our rebirth! Our ‘born again’)!
John 1:14 “14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
The Word (those spoken by the prophets and God himself, became flesh, born of woman, and John and the other apostles got to behold His GLORY. Can’t help but be a little envious, but would we have believed Him then? Do you believe Him now?
Don’t let anything stop you from pursuing knowledge of our Lord and Saviour. Don’t let anything get in your way, because tomorrow is not a given. We must believe in Him before we die. After we die, it’s too late. Get your knowledge in now, and don’t let distractions interfere with your eternity. It’s an individual journey, one we must enter alone. Make sure you have your lamp to light your path!
Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
John 1:16 “ 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”
In John chapter 3:3-15 Jesus explains being born again. “3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Even if you haven’t been baptized, if you believe in Jesus Christ, you shall not perish, but will have eternal life. Praise God.
