Blanco Elementary, riding a wave of strong performances, captured the District 27-AA UIL Academic meet title in competition held last Friday in Lago Vista.
“UIL is an opportunity to enrich and extend learning, to build teamwork, to celebrate a sense of accomplishment, and to practice diligence and dedication,” said elementary school principal Linda Romano.
“The teachers and students get to know one another on a
level based upon a common bond as they practice and prepare for their events. Participation fosters pride in the school as well as in the competitors.”
“To ultimately win the District championship is purely icing on the cake...a delicious, well-deserved, Blanco blue cake! I couldn’t be more proud of the kids and their coaches!”
Elementary UIL coordinators Linda Miller and Laurie Parker said, in a released statement, “We weren’t quite sure what to expect this year. The other schools were very competitive, but our students really stepped up to the challenge and performed in an amazing way!”
“It was a team effort. Awesome students and dedicated teachers teamed up to get the job done!”
”It was awesome!” said Kolby Marek. “We got to go Christmas caroling on the way home!”
”I thought it was fun!” Mitchell Barnett said. “I like walking around trying to find each event. They had a cool turtle too.”
”I thought it was fun!” Malinda Campbell commented. “My favorite event was Oral Reading.”
