The end of 2012 is a time to reflect on accomplishments and make resolutions to “do better” in 2013. The Keep Blanco Beautiful Volunteers have worked hard planting and maintaining the city’s public spaces. In April, an army of citizens took to the streets to clean up the litter. All year long the recycling center has afforded people the opportunity to be responsible and recycle household trash. During April’s Trash-Off, the City and County provided Blanconians the opportunity to dispose of large, no longer useful items that clutter property at no charge. Students at the Middle School continued their recycling education with field trips and activities thanks to grants from H.E.B. The end of the Year found very dedicated volunteers and high school students stringing lights so Blanco would make a proud presentation in the Hill Country Trail of Lights. Keep Blanco Beautiful had a wonderful year!

Making New Year resolutions is a tradition.

• Keep Blanco Beautiful hopes that participating in its activities will be high on your resolution list.

• Smokers often resolve to quit smoking. How about something a little easier – resolve to not throw butts or cigarette packaging on the ground. Same goes for chewers.

• Many resolve not to eat as much fast food - resolve to properly dispose of the wrapping and drink containers

• Resolve to clean out the bed of the truck. A lot of litter blows out.

• Make yard work easier – resolve to not mow as often . Grass left 3 to 5 inches tall helps protect our water shed.

• Encourage butterflies, bees and birds – plant native species that these critters like.

Most of all, resolve to participate! Blanco is a great place because its citizens care and take responsibility and action.
