Seven Blanco Businesses Honored with Night Sky-Friendly Awards (Community News)

Blanco Chamber of Commerce President Marcy Westcott, second from left, presents the Chamber’s first Night Sky-Friendly Business Certificates of Merit. Also receiving the award but not able to attend were Jon and Jan Brieger, owners of the Redbud Café and Brieger Pottery, and Sharon Denard, owner of Cranberry’s Antiques.

Blanco Chamber of Commerce President Marcy Westcott presented the Chamber’s first Night Sky-Friendly Business Certificates of Merit to seven Blanco businesses on December 18 in the Chamber office. Receiving recognition were Benson Body & Paint, Brieger Pottery, Cranberry's Antiques, Old Blanco County Courthouse Preservation Society, On the Square, the Redbud Café, and Stripes of Blanco.

“We are excited about our new Night Sky-Friendly Business Recognition Program and the positive reception it has received amongst our Chamber members,” said Westcott. “We appreciate the support of Mayor Homan and value our cooperation with the Hill Country Alliance. In the months to come we look forward to recognizing many more of our Blanco businesses and organizations and to helping others make their establishments truly Night Sky-Friendly.”
