Services were held on Monday December 10, 2012 in Blanco, Texas for former Holtville resident Clarence Little, who passed away on Monday, December 3.
He was born on December 25, 1933 in El Centro, California, and raised in Holtville, graduating from Holtville High School in 1951. He attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, for two years before being called to serve in the United States Army. He served his country proudly from 1953 to 1955, reaching the rank of Specialist Third Class.
While living in the Imperial Valley, he worked in agriculture for many years. He last owned and operated Little Spray Company. He was active in the Imperial County Sheriff Posse and the Holtville Athletic Club. In 1983, he moved to Blanco, Texas to work with his brother Jim at Atlas Pier Company. Prior to his retirement, he was ranch manager of the Blanco River Ranch.
While living in Blanco, he was very involved in the community, belonging to the Yett Park Association and Blanco Rodeo Association. He enjoyed helping with the committee that brought the annual Chuck Wagon Competition to Blanco and volunteered at the Good Samaritan, a local food bank. He loved living in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and enjoyed when friends and family from California would come to visit. He will be missed by many in both the Imperial Valley and in Blanco. Clarence is survived by his daughters, Debra Thornburg of Tulare, Karen Ball (Barry) of Porterville, and Kelley (Greg) Jackson of El Centro, and 4 grandchildren, Adrienne and Sean Ball, Kacy Thornburg, all of Porterville, and Emily Jackson of El Centro.
