Another successful football season for the Blanco Panthers has come to an end as Blanco was defeated by the #2 ranked East Bernard Brahmas this past Friday in Bastrop. The 16 to 0 loss gives Blanco an 8 and 5 record on the year, while setting up a battle of top-ranked teams this week as the Brahmas take on #1 ranked Refugio on Friday in San Marcos at 7:30 pm for the Region IV Championship.
Although Blanco was shut out for just the third time in the past 22 seasons, the Panther defense played an outstanding game, holding one of the state’s best teams to a season low 16 points as they allowed a first quarter TD and field goals of 30, 31 and 40 yards in the second and third quarters.
Offensively, Blanco was held to 7 first downs and 95 yards in offense, with Tim Goodman leading the ground game at 32 yards on 13 carries. Sam Isenberg completed passes to Colton Childress, Ian Ray, Quinn Dillard and Colton Elrod to account for 50 yards through the air.
Members of the 2012 Bi-District and Area Champion Panther Varsity football team include Sam Isenberg, John Hodge, Alex Palos, Layne Lassberg, Quinn Dillard, McKay Adamson, Aikman Elrod, Carson Kipp, Tim Goodman, Colton Childress, Chad Marshall, Colton Elrod, Tyler Brown, Andrew Burgess, Ed Alvarado, Bryan Brecka, Mason LeBlanc, Braden Kneese, Jace Ammons, Jubal Elrod, Britton Wagner, Michael Gonzales, Chris Barnett, Hunter Goodman, Skylar Itz, Noah Tresselt, Grant Calzoncit, and Ian Ray.
